If you are a subscriber to our new wax melt subscription boxes, you would have received two eco-friendly tea lights in your August box. You'll also know, from my previous blog post on; Why do we love Soy Wax, that I'm not the biggest fan of paraffin wax. Most tea lights (those in the metal tins you can buy in packs) are made from paraffin wax.
Researchers at South Carolina State University found that paraffin based candles, emitted toxic toluene & benzene which have been linked to lots of nasty diseases, such as asthma & lung cancer. Even worse, lots of the larger well known candle brands still use paraffin as their main ingredient! Why? Sadly, because it's cheaper. Soy wax costs more & the larger brands seem reluctant. Thankfully we do things a little differently, That's why we use 100% soy wax in all our melts and candles & only supply eco-friendly tea lights so you can be sure the products you use from our range aren't causing harm.
Since the birth of my son, I've tried to make more health conscious choices about the things I bring into the home, and paraffin is at the top of the banned list. Not only because it's not good for our health, I just can't stand the black marks paraffin candles leave on surfaces, walls & ceilings! Our candles, tea lights and melts burn clean so those awful black marks are thankfully a thing of the past.
Starting up in this industry, I have a great opportunity to do things a little differently, prioritising the health of my customers & the environment over profits, so you can be sure the products you use from our range aren't causing harm. Even down to our packaging, which is ethically sourced & recyclable. So if you are thinking of making a switch away from paraffin to an eco-friendly tea light, then now is your chance!
As always, I love hearing from you all so do send any feedback or questions to firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll be sure to get right back to you. Thank you for the support over the past few months, I couldn't do what I love without all of you.
